Hope Oslo had a week of evangelism and a Healing service with Peter Truong. During the week, Pastor Prakich, Wanda and Peter went to the university and student resident for evangelism. Pastor Prakich designed a survey form to interview Norwegian students to understand their beliefs and view on religion. During the survey, Pastor Prakich interviewed a Norwegian student who was an atheist and eventually led to the student wanting to read books about Christianity. The survey was an effective way of engaging conservation with Norwegian students.
On Saturday night, Wanda and Tor celebrated their 40th birthday with brothers and sisters in the church. At this event, they got to know a new couple from Australia moving back to Norway who was interested in church planting. It was a great time of fellowship and sharing the Hope vision together.
During the week, Hope Oslo fasted and prayed for people to attend the Healing Service. The church praised God for 18 people who attended the Healing service. There were 7 first time visitors who came to church through friendship evangelism and posters. Two bible college students from Germany thoroughly enjoyed the service and interested to join us for future events. Almost everyone received prayer during the altar call time. Pastor Prakich, Tor and Peter prayed for people to receive physical and emotional healing. Many people were refreshed by the presence and love of God.
Church planting in Follo, Norway
Tonje Kristiansen received a vision from God, to plant a church in Follo from God in 1996. When she joined the Hope movement and met Tor and Wanda Håbrekke, she found the support she needed to go ahead and fulfil the calling God had given her. Tonje is a nurse by profession and she has a great desire to see Norwegians turning to Christ in the rural areas of Norway. Currently, Tonje is leading a church in Follo, an hour’s drive from the Oslo, the capital city of Norway. Tonje has a passion to reach and disciple young people in her town. The Lord has used Tonje to pioneer various ministries in Hope Follo.
Smiley Club
The Smiley Club started in 2000 with the objective of reaching out to children in Follo. Over the last 7 years, over 50 children aged 7 to 13 years old, have participated in the Smiley Club’s program and activities. Tonje is leading this club and they meet every second Friday on a farm. The children learn about bible stories and have lots of fun playing games and camping out. This ministry provides a great opportunity to share the gospel to children and their parents in the community.
Jesus People (Youth Group)
Thomas and Helene are leading the Youth Group which is called Jesus People. About 60 to 80 youth, aged between 13 and 19 have joined Jesus People over last 7 years. The youth group have done many adventurous activities together such as camps, ski trips, mission trips, performing drama and dance shows in the street.
University Student Ministry
There are two student groups in Hope Follo which meet regularly on campus. Susan is leading the English speaking group while Gunild is leading the Norwegian speaking group. The students groups are reaching out to both domestic and international students.
Working Adults ministry
The first adult care group was established in 2000. During the early years, numbers were very unstable and the team encountered difficulties reaching out to working adults. There were many contacts, but very few people willing to be committed to the church. Today the Working Adults ministry has been strengthened by God bringing in people willing to wholeheartedly serve his church. Karin and Bright Yeboah are currently leading this group. The adults in Hope Follo now have become one of the pillars of the church along with Tonje.
Healing Meetings in Follo
Praise God for about 40 people who attended one of the four healing meetings, held at the university and ministry house. Peter Truong taught members about Divine Healing and encouraged members to believe God for healings. The church was encouraged to witness the power and love of God to restore the physical and spiritual health of Norwegians.
Healings at Youth Group
On Friday night at the youth group meeting, the church witnessed some healings after prayers. It was wonderful to see the youth praying for one another during the Healing Workshop.

God healed Anne Marte of stomach problem…
I’ve had a stomach problem for about three months. I didn’t know what it was, but I knew it wasn’t something good! On Friday 24th August, Peter and the youth group prayed for me and the pain and my stomach problem went away! It has been gone for two days now! On Friday, I also came down with a sore throat. When they prayed for me in the name of Jesus, my throat felt better and the day after the sore throat was totally healed!
God healed Heidi’s wrist...
Heidi had been suffering pain in her wrist for a few years. The youth group prayed for Heidi on Friday night and the pain was gone. Furthermore, there was no pain in her wrist on Saturday as well.
Healings at Sunday service
Hope Follo thanks God for the new visitors who came to the Sunday Healing Service. Karin was leading worship and the presence of God was at the meeting. Tonje invited people to share testimonies of healing at the beginning of the service. Bright preached a message on divine healing, followed by Peter who invited people to come to the altar and receive prayer for healing. It was wonderful to see everyone respond and come forward for prayer. Tonje, Bright and Peter prayed for healing and gave words of prophesy. Three Norwegians at the meeting shared their testimonies of God’s healing after prayer which was a great encouragement to the church.
God healed Hamida's shoulder and knee pain....
Hamida came to church experiencing pain in her shoulder and knee. Her condition made it difficult for to walk up the stairs. After prayer, Hamida testified that she felt better in both her knee and shoulder. Hamida then started to move her shoulder around and told Tonje that compared to before she could move it more freely.
Kari felt the power of healing during prayer....
Kari had a hernia beneath her stomach which caused a lot of pain. As the church prayed for Kari, she felt the warmth of God in her body. Kari testified to the church that God touched her body during prayer.
Another Norwegian lady called Heidi came to church with a painful knee and after prayer she testified that her knee got better.
We thank God for the first healing service in Hope Follo. This is only the beginning of healing ministry in Follo. The church desires to see God heal more people through prayer and will continue to challenge members to pray for friends and family to receive healing.
