HOPE KUANTAN, MALAYSIA

[Pastor Simon Eng & Sister Lai Eng - Hope Malaysia Churches] Kuantan, Pahang Kuantan is the capital of Pahang, which is the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. Kuantan is very famous for its fascinating sandy beaches and resorts which face the South China Sea. Many tourists spend their weekend with their family here. Another attraction is Kuantan’s salty fish, a famous dish that is a popular souvenir item for tourists. HISTORY OF HOPE KUANTAN [Siew Ling - Coordinator of Hope Kuantan] Hope Kuantan was born after a series of mission trips by a few second and final year students from UPM (University Putra Malaysia) in 2000. Two final year students responded to the call to plant a church in Kuantan, straight after their graduation on March 26, 2000. At first, care group or Sunday Service was held at the park and seaside. Later on, a double storey ministry house was rented, allowing the church to get started. During the initial stages of their ministries, the students saw weekly decisions for Christ, many of which were from the young people of Kuantan. As a result, Hope Kuantan had a very youthful and energetic group. After years of prayer, God pushed the church to a new level of growth. The demographics of the church broadened to encompass university students and working adults, both young and old. [Hope Kuantan Leadership Team:Kheng Leng, Siew Ling, Petrus Aw & Eric Looi ] The ministry expanded to pioneer another group in a small town near Kuantan called Gambang. This town is a 30 minute drive from Kuantan. A group of faithful brothers and sisters travel up to this town to run weekly care group. The church also travels up to this small town to run a prayer meeting, held every second Monday, every month. Members are given exposure to the everyday running of pioneering a care group in another town. CHURCH PLANTING IN KUANTAN Siew Ling landed in Kuantan 7 1/2 years ago to plant Hope Kuantan together with another brother. At that time, Siew Ling was a member in another church, serving in a university group there. One day, God touched Siew Ling’s heart after she listened to a teaching about the church planting spirit in Hope Thailand. It mentioned about how the Hope Thailand team were willing to leave high-paying jobs and move to different parts in Thailand to start care groups and plant churches for the Lord. After listening to this vision and philosophy teaching, Siew Ling was challenged by God to follow her Thai brothers and sisters’ example and be involved in church planting. HEALING SERVICE IN KUANTAN We woke up in the early morning and prayed together in the church. God is so good in answering our prayer. He brought a lot of people to the church. Most of them were sick and injured. Hope Mentakab (Caleb & Caryne Lim) brought 15 people to join Hope Kuantan on Sunday. Thank God for more than 70 people at the healing service. We saw many people being healed and started praising the Lord. We rejoiced for 4 decisions for Christ in the service. [Hope Mentakab: Caleb & Caryne Lim with church members] Healing Testimonies: God healed Lau Kow Chai’s hearing My sense of hearing is poor. I have 80% hearing in my left ear and 50% in my right. I have not been able to hear clearly for the past 20 years. After praying, I was able to hear clearer than before: my hearing is now improving. God restored my vision (Tan Teck Chuan, 55 years old) I was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago. My illness caused blurring in my vision. After prayer, I noticed an improvement in my eyes. I could see some light and words in small print – I had been healed. Afterwards, I decided to receive Jesus Christ as my Saviour. God lengthened my right leg (Wen Qi) Last year, I found that my spine was curved during a medical check-up. This means that my legs are unequal in size: the right leg is shorter than the left. When people were praying for me, I could feel some strength or power on my back. Now both my legs are in line, and I can walk with less pressure. I felt better than before. Able to walk better (Pei Jun, 7 years old) The bones in my leg are curved, requiring an operation on both legs. I could not walk straight and I was unsteady whenever I walk. After prayer, I am able to walk more firmly than before and I can now feel more energy whenever I’m walking. God lengthened the left leg (Yong Wei, 18 years old) Since I was born, my left leg has been shorter and weaker than my right. After I received prayer, my left leg grew longer til it was the same length as my right length. Also, I felt that my left leg was now stronger. The pain in my broken hand has eased (Suresh Kumar) Two months ago, I fell down the stairs, breaking my hand. When people were praying for me, I felt the power of God flowing in my hands. I felt heat in my hands and reduced pain. God healed me while I was praying for others (Angie Kong) My name is Angie Kong. I want to testify how God healed my back pain when I prayed for others.
